Storm In Halifax
Ok this storm was quite underplayed. Like all others, they were more scary on social media than in actual life. So like all of them, I took my camera out and went out to document it…
Turns out, it was a real storm, a much stronger one where visibility was really low and there’s not much happening other than snow plow.
It started fun until I find a crack in my camera plastic bag which most people thinks it’s just a plastic bag that I DIY’d for it.
It’s an actual camera plastic bag which I have been using for the last year, by the way…
Talking about camera, Ive had lots of questions on my IG stories about the gear I use, well let’s address that question :
I use the Sony alpha camera’s, for my everyday life, Sony A7iii, and for commercial work A7Riii.
Lenses : for streets and everyday life mainly : Sony Zeiss 50mm 1.4, Sony GM 35mm 1.4, and 85mm 1.8, I’m a prime lens kind of person. It restricts you and therefore get more creative.
If I’m on a work shoot, definitely the 24-70 2.8 Sigma Art.
Film camera for those who care - Rolleiflex 3.5.
Anyway.
Why Sony, well I’m not a fan boy. I’m a documentarian, and I use my camera everyday. For my purposes, I believe that a camera has to be fast, compact and high quality, and most of all, always delivers. I have tried Canon, Nikon, Lumix, and I’ve always ended up with Sony’s.
Of course all this is personal preference and choice. You have to choose what works for you, and find out for what purposes.
Most camera bought in the last 3/4 years are capable of great quality and superb output.
I will say it again and again, the camera is a mere tool, what you make of it is what matters. Of course gear matters, but you have to have the practice and knowledge for them to matter, and to use the characteristics that makes them matter.
Took me a while to realize that..
