3 tips to find your photography style.

1 - practice, practice, practice.

I wont stress this enough.

Practice is just everything. there are no shortcuts anything else that has meaning.

Social media might give that impression but its false, you have to put the work in, and on top of that comes with a lot of repetition and patience.

If you manage to do this over a good amount of time, and not taking things too seriously, you will start seeing a change in your work, taste and how you would eventually even develop your own approach to it.

I don’t believe there is a right or wrong way to do this, it’s all subjective.

Have fun with it.

2- Experiment with different environments. (location, mood, weather)

Shooting one thing can get boring. Some say to niche down and shoot that and you'll be famous on socials. I believe that if you want to get good at photography, you need to try different stuff. For example, try portraits, try product, or lifestyle photography.

In my case, I do a lot lifestyle photography, but I approach it with a street eye because that's my actual passion. I tried many different stuff over the years and always end up going to the streets to get my dose of photography.

3. Consume the right media.

Honestly, finding your style also comes with a lot of research and what you are actually consuming.

In my opinion, social media are good for a certain 'type of inspiration'' for quick creative refreshes but they tend to be all very similar. It depends what you are building.

I highly recommend consuming photography books and do things like goingo to the museum, stuff that aren't always related to photography and this might always spark inspiration.

In my case, I’m sure a lot of people do this. I rarely consume things on instragram because i find that it corrupts me, and I don’t really enjoy it.

I watch a lot of youtube videos about other photographer's life and how they approach this craft, and I find that this inspires me a lot. We are all different and its fun to see how others work!

In my case, I draw way more inspiration into watching a lot of movies. Studying their storytelling techniques through angles, and compositions and focal lengths etc etc.

Trust me, movies are a gold mine!
